The Northern Trust - One-and-Done

Wed, 08/23/2017 - 21:57
Let's face it. The Northern Trust is a complete unknown. We've heard Glen Oaks Club described as being similar to Augusta National. Perhaps it is, tee-to-green, but I find it hard to believe the greens will have the same intricacies and speed.

I'm throwing a dart at the wall and rolling with Louis Oosthuizen.

Best of luck to all!

Wyndham Championship - One-and-Done

Wed, 08/16/2017 - 19:25

The Wyndham Championship returns to Sedgefield Country Club. With the FedExCup Playoffs looming in a week, many elite options skip this event to rest up. Of the few that are on site, most have been used in the OAD format already this year. That means options are limited.
I’m attempting to ride a young and hot hand with some local roots. That is Grayson Murray, born in Raleigh, NC.
While is Twitter handle has proven him to be about as likeable as Rory Sabbatini, his game of late has been strong. We’ll hold our breath, for multiple reasons, and plug him into the lineup.
Best of luck to all!

PGA Championship - One-and-done

Tue, 08/08/2017 - 22:05
The PGA Championship heads to Quail Hollow for the first time, with Jimmy Walker as the defending champ. With Quail Hollow traditionally hosting the Wells Fargo Championship, we have some strong clues as to how it will play. That said, there was a massive redesign to the front nine, so course history deserves a grain of salt.

As for my one-and-done pick this week, I wrestled with Rory McIlroy versus Thomas Pieters. At the end of the day, I just couldn't ignore McIlroy's course history. Rory it is.

Best of luck to all!

WGC-Bridgestone and Barracuda - One-and-Done

Wed, 08/02/2017 - 21:28
We have a pair this week, with the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational taking the spotlight to the Barracuda Championship's back seat. While our options for the OAD are plentiful in Reno, Nevada, we are starting to run low on studs for the main event.

The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational offers us the option of an elite player who is having a bit of a sub-standard year. That would be Jason Day, who tied for third in this event last year. I'm rolling with the hopes that he catches fire this week.

At the Barracuda Championship, which features the Modified Stableford scoring system, I'm riding the hot hand of Robert Garrigus. He went 10-T5 the last two weeks and has never missed a cut in this event. Given his firepower, he's also in play for an eagle and the coveted 5 points that comes with it.

Best of luck to all!

RBC Canadian Open - One-and-Done

Wed, 07/26/2017 - 20:59
The RBC Canadian Open backs up the Open Championship, and here is this week's one-and-done selection. While it's tempting to take a Canuck in their fifth major, I went with an American who has been quietly playing some really good golf over the last month. That is Ben Martin. I thought long and hard about Adam Hadwin, but his form has been a bit off lately.

As a quick note for those that didn't catch it on Twitter or Rotoworld, I have stepped away from my Rotoworld duties. I'm not sure what that means for this space, but I suspect that I may use this platform a bit more than I have in the past. Perhaps it will be for golf thoughts or ramblings not related to fantasy.

Either way, I'll still be around in some form or fashion!

Best of luck to all!
